“Too crowded, elbow room only (and most of the people there you won't want to rub elbows with because of the overwhelming body odor throughout the casino and especially the gaming areas). No room to play slots, people standing around waiting for others to leave a slot so they may take their chair and a turn at losing. Yes, LOSING, because Rivers' slots are the tightest slots of any casinos in the state and the in country for that matter. Staff is extremely RUDE and arrogant, drinks are ridiculously expensive and service both in the bar and restaurants is horrible.
So if you like to be disrespected, if you don't like winning, and if you enjoy losing money...Rivers Casino is the place for you. ”

“My wife and I have frequented Grand Victoria in Elgin, other casinos in IL, and multiple casinos nationwide, including Vegas...and NEVER have we been as disappointed as we have become with Rivers Casino, which is located in Des Plaines IL, not far from where we live. Elbow room only everywhere, and most of the clientele you wouldn't want to rub elbows with (most smell like they haven't bathed in months), casino staff is extremely rude, bar and restaurant staff rude, prices ridiculously high for bad service. Most importantly, slots are very tight, tightest in Illinois. Rivers doesn't care about quality of staff and service because they have new people come through every day so they don't feel the need to provide quality customer service. So if you like to be directly or indirectly degraded and disrespected, and if you enjoy losing money and don't like to win - Rivers Casino is for you!”

About: Canopy Buffet
“The casino was way to crowded at 2 pm no machines to play but we came to try the buffet to. so after walking around and pushing through crowds we made it to the buffet. I passed on the soup there were three choices. I then tried the thin very thin pizza.Kind of blah not seasoned well. then to the the italin food. my sister said lasanga i said mosttacoli it had great sauce and great cheese. the meat balls also very good. I had a slice of prime rib. better then any top quality restaurant. passed on the potatos green beans. i was saving and keeping room for the fish. they also had an asian island very good egg roll and i think it was cray fish. then to my seafood. i was very dissapointed in the sea food. The salmon was dry the fried fish was not seasoned and the shrimp has no taste at all. surprising for a grand opening week that they would serve low quality shrimp. the cray fish was much better. well on to desert had kiwi fruit tart and blueberry ice cream. these two were very good. we go to the grand victoria and find the seafood was much better there. but the menu for friday july 22 was basically good except for the fish and the cook can only work so much magic. i am a reward player and hope that the buffet will get better.”

Gambling Factoid #26:
The name 'pai gow' is loosely translated as 'makes nine' or 'card nine' and has been played in China since the Song Dynasty (960-1279 A.D.). Pai gow is played with a set of tiles; pai gow poker is loosely based on the original game.
