Foxwoods CEO loses job as layoffs loom at casino

Mashantucket, Connecticut -- The chief executive officer of Foxwoods Resort Casino has become among the first of about 700 employees to lose their jobs because of cost-cutting.
The Mashantucket Pequot tribe, which owns the casino, says Patricia Irvin's last day as CEO was Friday. It is among about 700 positions slated to be cut by Oct. 17 through layoffs or attrition.
The CEO job has been eliminated, and its duties will be shared by the acting president of Foxwoods and the general manager of its MGM Grand facility.
