In a region that has some of California's largest and fanciest gambling resorts, La Posta Casino – which opens Monday – seems pretty modest.
Compared to all the others in the county, it is.
The 20,000-square-foot casino on this remote East County reservation has no hotel, it doesn't have blackjack tables or bingo – just 349 slots. The Golden Acorn on the nearby Campo reservation has 750 machines, and the seven other tribal casinos in the East and North County have slot totals ranging from 1,050 to 2,500.
