Union workers OK Mountaineer strike

In information released by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23, more than 200 workers voted Tuesday to strike at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort.
In two votes, workers rejected the company's final offer to renew its contract because they claimed it did not secure living wages or affordable health care.
According to Marshall Berman, labor counsel for the casino, this contract renewal happens once every three years. He noted negotiations have occurred for approximately two months, creating an extended contract between the union and casino. Berman stated a strike would terminate this contract.
