Two Tampa Bay area men hit the largest bad beat poker jackpot in the nation
Press Release, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 3:38:25 PM
Tampa, Florida--The Texas Hold 'Em Bad Beat Poker Jackpot of $564,912 won Monday, June 9th at 9:55 p.m. is certainly the largest to be offered in Florida and the all-time record for live poker Texas Hold 'Em games at a single property in the nation. The unheard of jackpot win brought the 24-7 live action in Seminole Hard Rock's Poker Room to a complete stop.
"There was absolutely a huge response in the room when this happened, people from all the other tables came over to see and congratulate the winners," said Henry Funke, Poker Room Manager.
Both "big" winners were local players; Glen Upchurch of Clearwater was the "loser" with four sixes and won $282,453, William Lewicke of Winter Haven was the "winner" with a straight flush to the eight of spades and won $141,227. The other eight players at the table each won $17,654.
The Bad Beat Jackpot had been building since April 28, 2008 when a payout of $285,923 was hit. The massive prize is the largest ever won at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa, which has been in Tampa Bay five years and previously operated as Seminole Casino since 1982.
Just as good--the new jackpot is already at $185,621.
