Casino amendment beaten down

A last-ditch bid to give all West Virginians a chance to decide casino-style gambling fizzled Monday, but the Senate whittled the state’s take on table games by 1 percent and agreed to let track counties keep more of what they generate.
After a spirited debate on Sen. Roman Prezioso’s effort to turn the table games bill into a statewide referendum on the Constitution rather than a four-county local option, the Senate killed the amendment by a 11-22 tally.
