Casino analyst favors G'burg

HARRISBURG — With state regulators considering where to award slot-machine gambling licenses, a Wall Street analyst said that a proposal for a slots parlor near the Gettysburg battlefield is a better choice than two competitors in the Pocono Mountains.
The proposed Crossroads Gaming Resort & Spa, which has sparked protests by Civil War preservationists and others, has become a hot potato for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Numerous politicians, including Gov. Ed Rendell, have expressed opposition to a gambling hall near the historic Gettysburg National Military Park, which commemorates the three-day battle that turned the tide of the Civil War.
