Casino law gets OK from district judge

A district court judge on Friday upheld the law permitting four state-owned casinos in Kansas, including one in Sumner County.
The expanded gambling law passed by the Legislature last year is constitutional, and the state lottery may continue implementing it, said Judge Charles Andrews in Shawnee County District Court.
He rejected a lawsuit filed against the lottery by former Attorney General Paul Morrison, who argued that the law didn't satisfy the constitution's definition of a "state owned and operated lottery."
