Chefs, Experts On Fine Wines Converge On Casino

Among the wines being poured, the vast powerhouse lineup of celebrity chefs and the dizzying array of foods, there are probably thousands of reasons to visit Foxwoods Resort Casino this weekend for the second annual Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival.
But we'll make it easy on you wine aficionados and food lovers. Here are 10 pretty compelling reasons why you should stop by Foxwoods Saturday and Sunday:
1. THAT'S ITALIAN
Two of the most popular and dynamic forces on the food scene today happen to be Italian chefs. While their cooking styles may differ, they offer food fans eminently watchable (and understandable) instruction on the glories of the Italian pantry. We refer, of course, to Lidia Bastianich and Giada de Laurentiis. Cookbook author and restaurateur Bastianich is best known for her television series; the most recent, "Lidia's Italy," debuted this year. Her cookbooks are known to millions and her restaurants (including Felidia, Becco, Esca and Del Posto) are considered among New York's top tables. De Laurentiis is the host of two Food Network shows, "Everyday Italian" and "Giada's Weekend Getaways," as well as author of "Everyday Italian," "Giada's Family Dinners" and "Everyday Pasta." She also recently joined NBC's "Today" as a special correspondent reporting in the show's new fourth hour, which began Monday.
