Hallandale Beach gaming spot to roll out 1,147 slot machines

Broward County will take one step closer to becoming Florida's gambling center when Mardi Gras Racetrack & Gaming Center has its debut Thursday with 1,147 Las Vegas-style slot machines.
The Hallandale Beach racetrack casino, formerly known as Hollywood Greyhound Track, is set to open at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, becoming the second of the county's four pari-mutuels with slot machines. Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino, about a mile from Mardi Gras, opened its slots room in November with 516 machines.
