Ho-Chunk buy rejected Beloit casino site
Business Journal of Milwaukee,

The Ho-Chunk Nation has purchased property in Beloit that had previously been targeted for the development of an off-reservation casino by two northern Wisconsin tribes, opening the door for a potential casino development there.
A purchase price was not disclosed in a tribal press release.
The casino application by the Bad River and St. Croix bands of the Chippewa Tribe was rejected by the federal government in January 2009 because, according to the federal government, the site was too far away from the tribes' north woods reservations.
In a press release, the Ho-Chunk Nation said proximity of the property to its existing tribal land, the Ho-Chunk's federally recognized aboriginal ties to Beloit and the region, and the fact that its compact allows for development of one more casino site enhances the possibility that it could locate a gaming development on the property.
