Kansas House passes casino bill

Sumner County may reap the financial benefit of a destination casino in south central Kansas, even if the state picks Sedgwick County or Wichita as its location.
Kansas State Rep. Vince Wetta, R-Wellington, said this morning by phone from Topeka the final action of the The Kansas Expanded Lottery Act passed this morning with a vote of 64 in favor and 58 against.
The gambling proposal has been rounded out after much debate through the weekend. Legislators were reportedly arguing the issue on the floor until nearly 3 a.m. on Friday evening, taking several votes and hearing many amendments.
