Kentucky lawmakers shrink Beshear's casino plan

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear's proposal to allow up to 12 casinos in the state got a trimming by the General Assembly in its initial discussion.
The House subcommittee on casinos voted to allow nine casinos, with no more than five a horse racing tracks, according to a report in the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Beshear's original plan, presented Feb. 14, would have allowed seven of the 12 casinos to be located at racetracks.
