No new casino licenses to be debated in '07

State gambling regulators agreed today they won’t reopen a debate on whether to issue additional casino licenses until early next year.
All five members of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission said they need more time to assess the financial performance of four new casinos that were awarded gambling licenses in May 2005.
Three of the new casinos have already opened, in Worth County, Emmetsburg and Riverside. But the fourth casino — planned by the Isle of Capri in Waterloo — has endured repeated construction delays and is not expected to open until late June, or no later than July 1, officials said.
