Poconos casino cannot open next week

A slot-machine casino in the Pocono Mountains will not open as planned next week because state regulators say they are not ready to allow it.

Before a casino can open, it must meet a host of regulatory requirements, including security and accounting. At the top of the list for Mount Airy Casino Resort is approval by state regulators of an independent auditing committee, Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board spokesman Richard McGarvey said.

"It will not open until we feel that everything has been met, all the regulatory requirements," McGarvey said.
