Proposition A backers win end to casino loss limits, increase in tax

Missouri voters passed a measure that removes casino loss limits while bumping up the state's take in casino taxes.
Proposition A passed, gaining more than 1.57 million votes, or 56 percent of votes cast.
A mix of casino operators and education officials backed the measure. Casino operators say that ending the state's present restriction against gamblers purchasing more than $500 in chips during a two-hour period is essential if Missouri facilities are to compete against casinos in neighboring states. Kansas soon will enter the casino game, with no loss limits.
