Public hearings this week on Rohnert Park casino

Public hearings are scheduled this week for residents and others to debate a $450 million casino in Rohnert Park.
The resort could bring jobs and prosperity to the 1,076 members of the Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria, but it also poses risks to the environment, according to a recently released study.
The casino could put 18,000 more cars on Highway 101 and local roads each day, the study said. It also could draw up to a quarter-million gallons of water daily from wells and possibly would pump treated sewage into Laguna de Santa Rosa, it said.
