Slots approved for Bethlehem

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved a gambling license for Sands Bethworks Gaming on Dec. 20, clearing the way for a casino to be built on the former Bethlehem Steel site.
With this license, Sands plans to build a movie complex, high-end boutiques and a hotel in addition to the casino. Although the casino will have slot machines, the gambling license does not permit card games.
Dale Kochard, executive director of community and regional affairs, said other projects, separate from Sands, will include a media and arts center by ArtsQuest and a national museum of industrial history funded by the Smithsonian Institution.
