About Jackpot!
The exhibit first debuted at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum at Okalee in October 2007 and focuses on the concepts of tribal sovereignty and the institution of gaming as an economic force in today's American Indian tribes. Visitors will learn about legislation that has affected tribal sovereignty in the United States, and the landmark Supreme Court decisions that still protect tribal interests today. The exhibit also highlights how gaming revenues are used by the Tribe to fund government operations, healthcare, housing, cultural institutions, education, child and elder care, police and fire departments, infrastructure, and donations to charitable organizations.
Michole Eldred, Curator of Collections for Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum commented, "The Tampa Seminole Hard Rock facility has been a strategic partner and proudly welcomes the exhibit as well as other potential engagements with the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum in the future. They are very interested in sharing the culture of the Seminole Tribe of Florida with the vast number of visitors who represent local, national and international communities."
