Tribe will open restaurant while it waits casino approval

Las Cruces -- The Fort Sill Apache Tribe of Oklahoma plans to open a restaurant today on Luna County acreage where it hopes to one day conduct gaming.
Officials with the tribe said they'll open a 24-hour diner and smoke shop on its 30-acres of trust land in Akela, just off Interstate 10 about 20 miles east of Deming.
Dennis Floge, manager for the tribe's operations at the site, said the restaurant will occupy the east end of a building that the tribe intends eventually to serve as a casino. The diner will seat about 30 people, he said.
